The Garifuna Collective at Jazz Cafe

Craft Music act The Garifuna Collective performed at Jazz Cafe earlier this August. Taking place on August 4th, the event saw the group bring the vibrant music of the Garifuna people to one of London’s most iconic venues. Located in the heart of Camden, Jazz Cafe has seen a number of Craft Music acts take the stage this year, playing host to Julian Marley, The Fatback Band amongst others.

Through their music, The Garifuna Collective celebrate the cultural identity of the Garifuna people, the descendants of an Afro-indigenous population from the Caribbean island of St Vincent.

Having performed in over 30 countries across 5 continents, the group are behind some of the most highly renowned Garifuna recordings, including Wátina, the critically acclaimed recipient of the BBC World Music Award, singled out by Amazon as the Number One World Music Album of All Time.

Their legendary live shows are a joyous celebration of Garifuna culture, bringing their rich tradition to life through music, dance and performance.
